Saigal, Naushad, one of the most talented and the highest paid composers of his time, the underrated by gifted Roshan, Shailendra, especially versatile and sensitive lyricist, the irascible Sajjad, a composer of genius, among many others. There is also an interesting piece on the three versions of the film Devdas, and a tribute to Kidar Sharma, a filmmaker of true sensitivity. This volume will give pleasure to those who love nostalgic Hindi film songs – very many of them works of art – and the cinema that came alive because of them.
