कहा जाता है कि कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी का घोषणापत्र, जो कम्युनिस्ट मैनिफेस्टो के नाम से मशहूर है, बाइबिल और क़ुरान के बाद सबसे ज़्यादा छपने और बिकने वाली किताब है। आधुनिक विश्व के निर्माण में अब तक का कोई राजनीतिक लेखन इससे ज़्यादा प्रभावशाली नहीं हुआ। कम्युनिस्ट मैनिफेस्टो एक महत्त्वपूर्ण राजनीतिक संदेश को इतने सहज और साधारण गद्य में व्यक्त करता है कि हर कोई इसके जादू में बंध जाता है। इसमें तमाम पीढ़ियों ने अपने समय की छवि ही नहीं देखी बल्कि आने वाले वक़्त की आहटें भी सुनीं।
हिंदी में सुभाषिनी अली ने इसका जीवंत भाषा में अनुवाद किया है। इसकी भूमिका के रूप में प्रख्यात मार्क्सवादी विचारक एजाज़ अहमद की लंबी टिप्पणी संकलित है, जो इस कालजयी पाठ के सूत्रों को खोलने के साथ वर्तमान संदर्भ में इसकी प्रासंगिकता को रेखांकित करती है।
